Keith James: an evening with Nick Drake.

Keith James, acknowledged as the finest interpreter of the work of late lamented Nick Drake, is about to embark on his second tour performing Nick Drake's songs live on stage, and will be bringing his tribute to South Parade Pier on Tuesday 1st July.

The first tour across the country saw audiences filling Arts Centres and theatres to hear this music again. An occasion, that all of you, who have cherished Nick's unique fragility and poetry over the past 30 years would never have believed was possible.

Nick Drake himself, was at the time of his writing and recording, somewhat of a mystery to all. Painfull, full of personal doubt and troubles, lonely and insular, he only lived to record three full albums - "Five Leaves Left", "Bryter Later" and "Pink Moon", all of which were regarded at the time as being flimsy and without the substance that was called for to engage popular audiences.

It has only been in the last ten years that many thousands of listeners have come to appreciate his beauty. Nick Drake has now, thankfully become the most revered of all contemporary English singer/songwriters, and Keith James' tribute is not only a reminder of the huge talent that was Nick Drake, but also provokes thoughts of what Nick might have been capable of today...

  • "An amazing voice, great depth, thanks for a great show"
