The Fat Fox
Early December 2007 saw the opening of a new venue featuring regular
blues - The Fat Fox, on the junction of Victoria Road South and
Albert Rd., Southsea.
Previously The Fat Fox was known as The Wonkey Donkey and Black Bar -
and before that it was a Mongolian Restaurant. The Fat Fox is
opposite The Goose At The V & A - which used to be the old Southsea
Police Station.
The pub is divided into two distinct areas, and in what was previously
the Black Bar, there is a good amount of seating, with a stage
dominating the far end of the room, where Portsmouth's top blues
specialists, Bullfrog Blues Club will start hosting live blues gigs
every Monday.
The Fat Fox is run by Mike Hughes previuosly of The Wine Vaults on
Albert Rd., and like The Vaults there's a good selection of real
ales, lagers, ciders and Guinness . Good food is also on offer,
prepared by the former head chef from the Wine Vaults.
