The Carla Hendriks Band

Appearances:

  • The Pyramids Cafe Bar, The Pyramid Centre Southsea. - Thurs 29th August 2002. - £3.00
And unusual set incorporating a performance the whole of Fairport Convention's "Liege & Lief" Album

The Carla Hendriks Band is a Folk/Rock fusion band, with many other influences, making it a most interesting and musically rewarding experience.

  • Carla Hendriks (lead vocals)
Carla is a very experienced vocalist who has worked extensively in theatre, TV, cabaret and cruising, at home and abroad. She started her career in in Holland and also toured there. The Carla Hendriks Band is her current project and she is working with musicians who have similar interests, which is very much a bonus.
  • Chris Lowe (Guitar, Mandolin and Vocals)
Chris started playing Folk and Blues with such luminaries as Richard Hudson, John Ford and, a then unknown, Christine McVie (nee Perfect). Later, moving away from folk and blues, he teamed up with an ex - Yardbird to write and record. He has toured with two of Phil Spectors creations - The Crystals and The Ronettes. He has also worked with The Detroit Spinners and The Detroit Emeralds. He has worked with many folk/rock and country bands. He even co-wrote a song which was submitted for the 1990 Eurovision entry!
  • John Whale (Bass)
John has been playing bass for 14 years on the local rock and blues circuit. He has played in bands such as, Hair of the Dog, Elephant Sam, Lost Boys and Chilberry Blue. These have supported, to name but a few, Wilko Johnson, The Hoax and Dr Feelgood.
  • Bernie Foxx (Drums and Percussion)
Bernie is one the most talented and flexable drummers in the area. One moment you will find hime playing blues, the next folk rock, the next jazz.
  • Andi Dawson (Keyboards, Vocals and Penny Whistle)
At just 21 years of age, Andi has already made quite a few musical achievements including grade 8 standard on both piano and the countertenor (alto) voice. Andi joined with fellow musicians Chris Lowe and his father, Kevin Dawson, to take a trio onto the road entertaining the public in various venues across the south. He later joined up with The Carla Hendriks Band for both enjoyment and to further broaden his horizon of musical genres. Other musical interests also include composing and conducting, with certificates in each.
